Coordinator of the Health Center and College Nurse

Location: Utica, NY
Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Month

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Coordinator of the Health Center and College Nurse in our Health Center. This position oversees the daily operations of the College’s Health Center. The Coordinator of the Health Center and College Nurse provides routine health care assessment and education within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse. They coordinate and implement College compliance with New York State immunization public health laws. This position serves as primary campus medical caregiver and as liaison with off-campus services.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Performs routine health care for students and staff within the scope of practice for a New York State Registered Nurse (RN);
  • Documents, records and retains confidential medical treatments and assessment records in accordance with College policy, procedure, and software;
  • Complies with all State and Federal Laws as well as State University of New York (SUNY) requirements;
  • Participates in the development of the Health Office’s budget, goals and planning;
  • Prepares required injury report forms for workers compensation in coordination with Human Resources;
  • Coordinates health care and wellness educational programming;
  • Coordinates College health clinics;
  • Inventories, safeguards and orders medical supplies;
  • Makes referrals to medical providers and acts as liaison when necessary;
  • Responds to College medical emergencies as necessary;
  • Participates in professional development activities to remain current in field;
  • Possesses student centered philosophy and provides all options when serving/educating students;
  • Adheres to Health Center Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Coordinates SUNY International Student Health Insurance and Accident Insurance programs;
  • Other duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Director of Student Accessibility and Wellness.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • CPR Health Care Provider Certification 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior nursing experience
  • Experience providing nursing services in an educational setting and with immunization compliance programs
